The short answer is yes. Putting a middle-eastern terrorist, many of whom have never even been to the beach, on a foam board and forcing him to swim out into the middle of the ocean with instructions to “catch a wave” is inhumane. Now, that doesn’t mean that if we were in an 11th hour scenario with a ticking bomb about to go off that I would hesitate to force a pair of flippers on the feet of a theologically-driven madman, but I would recognize what I was doing was wrong and be prepared to accept the consequences.
